Rosa Castro (also lo Cascio and Cascio) is born and baptized 2 October 1801 in Corleone, the daughter of Bernardo Castro and Giuseppa Cuccia. Her godparents are Giuseppe Ragusa and Giuseppa Vintaloro, who are not married.
In 1811 Rosa, 10 (b. 1801), lives with her parents, brothers, and sisters, on the Strada Grande in Corleone.
Rosa marries twice, first to Santo Papania, on 13 January 1823.
Rosa and Santo have at least one child, born after Santo's death and named in his memory.
Santo the younger is born and baptized 7 November 1829. His godparents are Antonino di Trapani and Rosa, wife of Mercurio Finocchio.
Rosa marries Vincenzo Lanza (sometimes Lanza Botta) on 6 September 1830. Her parents are both living, though her mother is called Giuseppa Cutrono in this record.
Rosa and Vincenzo have at least five children: two daughters named Angela (1831 and 1834), Vincenzo (1832), Leoluca (1836), and Francesco Paolo (1837).
The first daughter named Angela, after her paternal grandmother, is born and baptized 18 November 1831. Her godparents are Antonino and Vincenza Cutrera, a married couple.
Angela dies on 10 February 1832 at four months of age.
Santo dies at age two (b. 7 Nov 1829) on 14 July 1832.
Vincenzo Maria is born and baptized on 29 December 1832. His godparents are Paolo and Carmela Colajanni, a married couple.
The second daughter named Angela is born and baptized on 26 July 1834. Her godparents are Leopoldo and Carmela Vernagallo, son and mother.
Leoluca is born and baptized on 20 June 1836, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Giovanni and Antonina Provenzano, a married couple.
Leoluca dies on 3 September at two months of age.
Francesco Paolo is born and baptized on 2 August 1837, the summer of the first recorded cholera outbreak in western Europe. His godparents are Vincenzo di Palermo and Antonina Leone, wife of the late Antonino.
Rosa dies, reportedly at age 34 (she is almost 36) a month later, on 5 September.
Vincenzo remarries the following February, to Salvatrice d'Anna.
Vincenzo dies at age 56 (b. 1795) on 8 January 1852. His second wife, Salvatrice, survives him.
The surviving daughter named Angela marries Giuseppe Millitrano on 26 November 1855.
Angela dies, reportedly at age 22 (actually, 24) on 1 October 1858, survived by her husband.
