Lars Johan (Svensson) Swanson lived in Sweden

Lars Johan Svensson / Swanson was born on 23 Sep 1859 in Svartrå, Halland (Hallands län), Sweden.[1]Link to Birth Record [2] Note that the Sweden Emigration Registry shows he was born in Okome, Halland, Sweden (Not Svartrå)[3] At time of Christening, 25 Sep, 1859 at Svartrå, his Swedish parents, Sven Larsson and Carolina Sofia Christiansdotter, were living at #4 Svartrå.[4][5]

Lars Johan lives in Svartrå until 1875[6][7]. In 1875 he moves to Bössgård in the neighboring parish Okome,[8][9] In 1879 he moves again to Lilla Okome[10] where on 25 March 1881 he leaves for Amerika.[11]

Lars married Wilhelmina Sophia "Minnie" Holmberg Swanson on 1 January 1887.[12][2] Four children were born to this union: John Swanson (1887-1970), Harry Swanson (1893-1977), Sven Franz Wallace Swanson (1899-1900), George Walter Wilhelm Swanson (1905-1973)[2]

In 1900 "L J" (40) had been in the USA for 21 years and was living in Hamlin, McKean, PA with his wife Minnie. They owned their own home and farm and L J worked as a farmer. Others in the household were John (12), Carl (6), and three boarders - Arthur Herrick (30), Geo Witterfield (29), and Oscar Carlson (21).[13]

In 1910 Lars (50), who was now a naturalized citizen of the USA, and wife, Sophie W (43), who had been married for 21 years, were still living in Hamlin with four children - Victor J (22), Harry C (16), Wallace Swanson (9) and Forge W (5) and brother-in-law Carl Axel Holmberg (1869-1924). Lars was a farmer, Victor was a rig builder in the oil field business, and Charles was a chopper for the lumber industry.[14]

In 1920, L J (60) and "Elemina' (I.E. Sophia Wilhelmina (Holmberg) Swanson (1866-1929) (53) had only their youngest son living with them - George Walter Wilhelm Swanson (1905-1973) (14). Lars was now working as a farmer in the dairy farm sector and lived on Smethport Road in Hamlin.[15]

In 1930 Lars was widowed and living alone at Rts 6 and 219- R.D 1 Mt. Jewett.[16]

In 1940, at age 81, Lars was living with his son John Victor Swanson (1887-1970) (52) and his wife Ruth Ethyl Hanson (1897-1986) (40) in Hamlin.[17]

Lars Svensson passed away on 26 Apr 1949 in Lantz Corners, McKean, His burial took place at Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery, in Kanesholm, McKean, PA.[2]

His will was probated on 6 Jun 1949 in McKean County, PA. [18]
