Received April 13, 2004 from Sue Epperson at
From a letter written to Marian Epperson (Sue's mother, who started the family history records) by Ruth Secrest Honeyford in the early 1960's...referring to her knowledge of Nancy Mouck Epperson:
"I don't know much about my grandmother as to her family. My mother (Edith Epperson Secrest) told me her mother (Nancy Mouck) used to be a school teacher before she married- that she was a graduate of the "Galesburg Female Academy"! I think the school still exists under a slightly different name as I used to know a young man from Galesburg. My mother has told me too, about her mother sewing - during the Civil War - making dresses by hand for 50 cents. I guess she was quite a proud woman for she used to walk very erectly so that from her back no one would know she was an elderly person (these are just things I remember my mother telling me - how well her mother carried herself - how particular she was about her hair and appearance.) My mother spelled her name in the old fashioned way "Edith".
