Thomas, son of Samuel Butler D.D., and Harriet Apthorp, was born 28th Nov 1806 in Shrewsbury, and baptised 6 April 1807 at St Mary, Shrewsbury. [1]
He studied at St John's College, Cambridge from 1825. [2]
Thomas Butler of St Mary Shrewsbury, and Fanny Worsley of St Michael, Bristol, were married by licence on the 28th June 1831. Their witness were Hubert Hutchings of Venulam Build Grays Inn London, Sarah Worsley, Samuel Quinton, Philip Worsley of Chaltham place London. [3]
Thomas was a clergyman and lived in Langar, Nottinghamshire with his wife and children. [4][5][6][7]
One of Thomas' children was the noted English novelist Samuel Butler (1835-1902), author of Erewhon and The Way of All Flesh.
Thomas died 29th December 1886 at Wilderhope House in Shrewsbury. [8]
