Biography

Birth &c 1851 Wharram Grange

Mary Honor Acklam was born 15 Feb 1851 near Malton in Wharram Grange. ^[1] She is the daughter of John Acklam of Wharram Grange and his wife Ann Wray.

With Uncle 1861 Little Driffield

William Smith and his wife Margaret (Acklam) Smith seem to have adopted her niece Mary Honour ACKLAM after the death of the child's father John ACKLAM in 1858. Unfortunately a few days before the census of 1861 William's wife died, ^{[2] [3]}

With Aunt Ann 1871 N Frodingham

in 1871 Mary Honour is in North Frodingham at the original Acklam Farm: Her uncle Samuel has died but his widow Ann is there. ^[4]

Sempstress 1881 Beverley

Mary H Acklam is in Beverley as a boarder at Magdala Terrace near the Railway Station. ^[5]

William Anderson's wife Elizabeth 45 was born 1836 North Frodingham: Is she a connection of Mary Honor? Or have Mary Honor and the children moved with John William ACKLAM from North Frodingham? Mary H is almost certainly John William's sister Mary Honor, probably born at Wharram le Street (NOT Beverley) in 1851 (age 30 matches) Their uncle by marriage John Brigham, a substantial merchant, is in Beverley, though his wife Elizabeth Acklam died in 1858.

Frederick and Margaret Acklam, with her, cannot be Samuel Acklam's children as he was dead before they were born. Until clear evidence is found the suspicion remains that they are Mary Honor's illegitimate children.
