Biography
Charles was born in 1866. He is the son of John Adams and Mary Elder.
The family would remain in Thorah with John continuing employment as a shoemaker. John and Mary would have 7 children, with sons James, Charles and Walter having been born in the intervening years. [1] In 1881, John and Mary were still residents of Thorah. John was working as a tanner. Charles was one of six of their children still living at home. Age 15, he was working as a clerk.[2]
It is not clear where Charles was living at the time of the next census but by the turn of the century he had moved west to Winnipeg where his brother David was heavily involved in the coal mining industry in Manitoba. In 1901 Charles is shown as the Manager of a coal operation and was living in Winnipeg with his wife, Eveline (Eva) and children Gordon and Myrtle. Also in residence was Charles' widowed mother, Mrs J N Adams.[3]
Charles Alward Adams died in 1908 at the age of 41 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.[4]
