Emily was born in about 1841. She is the daughter of George Adams and Frances Thompson. ^{[1] [2]}

Research Notes

Emily was born between 1840 and 1842. This is problemative because it potentially puts her birth prior to the marriage of W.G. and Frances in December 1841, and while this is possible, it was uncommon--particularly for a child reared by her parents. A biographyical sketch of Emily's younger brother Jeff identifies W.G.'s wife as Martha Johnson, even though this is counter to all census records. ^[3] It is possible that W.G. first married a Martha Johnson who was Emily's mother and died young, and that the rest of W.G.'s children were by Frances Ann Thompson who he married in December 1841.
