Gertrud Adelborg, born on September 10, 1853, in Karlskrona, Sweden, was the daughter of Naval Captain Bror Jacob Adelborg and Hedvig Catharina af Uhr. A dedicated figure in the Swedish women's movement, she worked for the Fredrika Bremer Association, advocating women's suffrage. Adelborg played a crucial role in presenting the first official demand for suffrage to Prime Minister Erik Gustaf Boström in 1899. Her involvement extended to the National Association for Women's Suffrage, and in 1907, she led the delegation presenting their demand to King Oscar II. Despite a quieter role, Adelborg's contributions were vital, involving secretarial tasks, investigations, and authorship of publications. After a career of advocacy, she retired to Gagnef, Dalarna County, receiving the Swedish Royal Medal of Illis Quorum in 1907. Gertrud Adelborg passed away in 1942, resting in Gagnef.
