Biography

Willie Arthur Agar (1894-1965) was born in Rastrick, Yorkshire on the 28th August 1894. ^[1] He was the son of Marmaduke Agar and Martha Jane Whiteley. ^[2] They lived on Bramston Street, Rastrick in 1901 ^[3] His mother died in 1902 and he and his father were boarding on Dyehouse Lane, Rastrick in 1911. He was then employed as a fitter. ^[4]

He married Sarah Dyson in 1918 in the Halifax district ^[5] and they settled on George Place, Brighouse for the next 30 years or so. ^[6] At the same time between 1919-1922, Willie was also listed in an adjoining street of Scotty Croft Lane. ^{[7] [8]} He was a gas valve fitter and the couple had one child, Dorothy who died before her parents. ^{[1] [9]}

Willie died on the 4th April 1965 ^[10] and was buried alongside his daughter in Rastrick Cemetery on the 7th April 1965. ^{[11] [12]}
