Edward Patrick Ahern was born on March 14, 1903 in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. He is the son of Michael Ahern and Amanda Durant.

He married Mabel Kelly on August 25, 1924 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Edward Patrick Ahern died May 31, 1996 at his home in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bedford, New Hampshire.

Obituary

Edward Patrick Ahern, 93, of 384 Blodget St., Manchester, died May 31, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Manchester, the son of Michael and Amanda (Durant) Ahern. A lifelong city resident, he was educated in the local system. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Ahern was employed as plant superintendent at Felton Brush Co. for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral and was involved with the Catholic Youth Organization of that parish for many years. He was also a former member of the Raphael Club. Since 1950, he had a summer residence at Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham.

The family includes a son, Edward J. Ahern of Manchester; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Mary Anne) Walker of Manchester; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael C. Ahern of Boone, N.C.; nephews; and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Mabel (Kelley) Ahern, in 1995; a daughter, Eileen M. Kenney; three brothers, Col. John Ahern, Francis Ahern and Kevin Ahern; and three sisters, Madeline Gladu, Ellen Simpson and Mary Miller.

Services: Calling hours at the McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover Street, are Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Optima Health/Visiting Nurses Association, 1850 Elm St., Manchester 03104 or Easter Seal Society of New Hampshire, c/o Special Transit Services, 555 Auburn St., Manchester, 03103. — The Union Leader 1 June 1996
