Philip was baptised in Charlbury, Oxfordshire on 26th March 1817.[1] He was the son of William and Sarah. His father stated on the register that he was a labourer and that the family were living in Finstock at the time.
Marriage
Philip Akers and Emma Dore were married in Charlbury, Oxfordshire on 9th May 1839.[2] They were bachelor and spinster, both aged 22 and living in Finstock. Philip was a labourer and the son of William Akers who was also a labourer. Emma was a gloveress and the daughter of Stephen Dore, a carpenter. Neither could write so they both made their mark on the register with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were William Bodington and Amelia Langford.[3]
