Biography

Hilma Albers Pfluger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished member of the Coupland community, passed away on July 6, 2005, at the age of 88. She grew up in Coupland, Texas, the oldest child of Alfred and Clara (Hunziker) Albers. She married C. W. (Bill) Pflluger, Jr. on June 30, 1938 at St. Peters Church of Coupland.

Visitation and Prayer Service will be at Providence Funeral Home on Thursday 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at St. Peters Church of Coupland on Friday, July 8th, at 3PM with Pastor John Sumner officiating. Burial will follow at St Peters Cemetery in Coupland. Pallbearers will be Miz Pfluger's grandsons.

The four cornerstones of "Miz" Hilma's entire life were her family, her church, her music, and her community. She and Mr. Bill had four beloved children, 8 cherished grandchildren, and 6 adored great-grandchildren who will all miss her greatly. Miz Hilma was a devout member of St. Peters Church of Coupland. She was the music director, organist, choir director, and the "go to" person for anything musical for over 65 years. Her love for music extended into her long career as a piano and organ teacher. Many children from surrounding communities came to her for their piano lessons. Their children and grandchildren also were taught by Miz Hilma during her 65 year career as piano/organ teacher extraordinaire. As long as she was able, Miz Hilma played an active role in all aspects of the Coupland community. She helped form the Coupland Community Club and served in many leadership roles in the club. Her community was very important to her. Miz Hilma was also known for her wonderful cooking skills. Her children, granchildren, relatives, and other members of the community have passed her special recipes to each other. She will always be with us every time one of these recipes is used. Gardening was one of her passions. She always had the most wonderful flowers and could be found working in her yard between her music lessons. She and Mr. Bill also enjoyed traveling and went on many wonderful trips all around the United States and the world. Miz Hilma seemed to have unlimited energy for her family, her church, her music, and her community. Her children are still amazed at all the things she accomplished in her very creative life.

Her surviving family includes her husband of 67 years, C. W. (Bill) Pfluger, Jr., of Coupland, Texas; her daughters. Barbara Piper and husband Jack of Plano, Texas; Becky Sutton of Coupland, Susan Schmidt and husband Russell of Coupland, son, Chris Pfluger, III and wife Linda of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, John Welch and wife Denise of Cypress, TX.; Jeff Welch and wife Susan also of Cypress; Brian Welch and wife Alice Ann of Frisco, TX.; Jay Sutton of Coupland, TX.; Stephanie Schmidt Kennedy and husband Eric of Lockhart, Tx.; Russell Schmidt, Jr. of Austin, TX.; Christian Pfluger, IV., and Tim Pfluger, both of Downers Grove, IL.; great-grandchildren Adam and Llindsey Welch of Cypress; Jeffrey, Ashley, and Taylor Welch of Cypress; and Cole Kennedy of Lockhart.
