Biography

Charles was born in 1919. He was the son of Charlie Albritton and Ellie Sherman.

The family of Charlie and Ellie Albritton can be found living on Kolbs Crossing in Jefferson County, Texas at the time of the 1920 Census. Those enumerated in the household included Charlie Albritton (31 yrs), Head of Household, occupation, Labor Foreman in an Oil Refinery, Ellie Albritton (25 yrs), Rosa Albritton (3 yrs), Charlie Albritton (1/12 yrs) and Charlie's mother, Nancy Albritton (66 yrs).

At the time of the 1930 Census, the family of Charlie and Ellie Albritton can be found living on a farm they owned on the Hamshire/Winnie Road in Jefferson County, Texas. Those in the household included Charles Albrittan (41yrs), Head of Household, occupation, Farmer in the General Farming industry, Schiseamen (Ellie) Albrittan (35 yrs), Rosa E Albrittan (13 yrs), Charles Albrittan (10 yrs), James W Albrittan (7 yrs) and Elston Albrittan (4 yrs). It was recorded that Charles was 27 and Ellie 21 at the time of their marriage.

Mr. Albritton was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Port Arthur, Texas, and had lived in Pascagoula since 1963. He was retired from Chevron after 23 years as a safety and training supervisor. He was a member of the Lions Club in Pascagoula and was president of the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was the Outstanding Citizen of Jackson County in 1978-79 and received the Silver Beaver and Pine Burr Award in scouting.

He passed away in 2001.
