The Iola Register 06 Jun 1930, Fri Page 5 George W. Allen Geo. W. Allen, son of Samuel and Julia Allen, was born Sept. 26, 1850 at Port Byron, Rock Island County, Illinois. He departed this life June 4, 1930 at his home in Gas, Kansas. He was united in marriage with Matilda McGuire, who preceded him in death, Sep. 29, 1908. To this union were born four children, three sons, Ernest Allen, who passed away June 20, 1913, Collins, Ia.; Sidney Allen of Iola, Kansas; Edgar Allen of Clarinda, Ia., and one daughter, Mrs. Ida Mason of Nevada, Ia. January 26, 1917, he was united in married to Mrs. Caroline Smith, of Des Moines, Ia., who preceded him in death. On Sept. 23, 1923, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Fannie Reeder, who survives and carefully cared for him in his illness. He leaves to mourn their loss, two sons, 1 daughter, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Fred Allen of Iola, Kansas, and E. A. Allen of Long Beach, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Lyda Martin of Ashland, Neb., and other relatives and friends--Contributed.
