Biography

Emily Maria Allen was born on 24 Jul 1861 in Southwark, Surrey, England to Edwin Allen and Eliza (Allen) Allen. Her birth was registered in St George Southwark in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Allen.^[1]

Emily Maria Allen, daughter of Edwin & Eliza, was christened on 11 Aug 1861 at Saint Jude's in Southwark.^[2]

Emily's mother passed away before 1873. Her father remarried that year, to Grace Jane Darker.

In 1881 Emily Allen (age 19) lived at Pimlico Rd in Chelsea, London with her father Edwin (45, Licensed Victualler), stepmother Grace (36), and brother Edwin (17).^[3]

Emily Maria Allen married Charles Short Sadler in 1882. The marriage was registered in Chelsea in the first quarter of the year.^[4]

In 1939 Emily Sadler (born in 1861) lived at 61 Lucerne Road in Croydon, Surrey with her husband Charles S Sadler (1862), son Charles E J Sadler (1883), and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Sadler (1885).^[8]
