Biography

Maria was the daughter of Lawrence Alsdorf and Maria Thomas. A footnote in Gustave Anjou's compilation of Ulster County probate records indicates that she was baptized Anna Maria Alsdorf on 7 January 1738. ^[1]

Maria Alsdorf and Samuel Terpenning or Teerpenning (different spellings in different versions of the church record) were married in Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York, on 27 February 1763, after having registered banns on 11 February. Samuel Teerpenning and Maria Alsdorf entered banns of marriage on 11 February 1763 in Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York. They were married there on 27 February 1763. According to the marriage register reproduced in Holland Society Book 46, Samuel was born in Kingston and was living in the Highlands Precinct. Maria was born in the Paltz Precinct and was living at "Shawankong."^[2][3]

She was living as of 10 January 1788, when her father mentioned her in his will.
