Biography

Elmer Ames Rites To Be Held Friday Elmer Ames, 70, Pioneer farmer died Tuesday in a Wichita hospital where he had been taken three weeks ago. Funeral services will be conducted in Caldwell Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the First Methodist church. Rev. Raymond Dewey of Wichita, former pastor of the local church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Caldwell cemetery under the direction of the Culbertson Mortuary of Wichita.

Mr. Ames was born at Girard, Ill., and moved to a farm southwest of Caldwell 45 years ago. He was a member of Methodist church. Mr. Ames had many friends in this community and was a respected and successful farmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Vera Struble of the home address; three sons, Max Ames of Dodge City, Eldon Ames of Wichita who is associated with Culbertson Mortuary, and T/4 Donald E. Ames of the Army Medical Corps who is stationed in Germany; three sisters, Sarah Roesch of Bryant, O., Dora Scrogun of Goshen, Ind., and Adella Lloyd of Whittier, Calif., and a brother, E. W. Ames of Colby, and grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death several years ago.

The family three weeks ago cabled Donald through the Red Cross of his fathers illness and later notified him of his death, but as yet they have not heard from him. The other two sons, the daughter and the brother will be here for the services.
