Biography

Second child of Alexander and Sarah (Keever) Anderson. Census of 1900 states his birth as May of 1845 (not May 1844).

In the 1850 census he appears as a child of 6, living with his parents and siblings.

In 1870, Lewis (26) is married to wife Fanny (23) and they have two children, Charles (2) and Sallie (⅔), an infant. With them lives his younger brother, Alex Anderson.

In 1880, Lewis was living in Allegheny, PA, working with a "convenience Trolley" for groceries. Allegheny is where his father's uncle, John Hunter, lived, and their cousins and their families. Sarah Keever's sister Margaret Keever married John Hunter.

By 1900 he was a Salesman in a Grocery business. He married Susan C. ____, (born in Sept 1855) in 1880. The census of 1900 found them living in California, Washington Co, PA with three children: Sara, born Nov 1869, Lewis E (Mar 1886) and Rachael A (Sep 1889). He was a traveling grocery salesman and they rented their home. Note: As Sara was 30 years old and the parents had only been married 20 years, is it possible that Susan was not Lewis Anderson's first wife?

In 1910, they were living in Monongahela Ward 3, Washington County, PA with two of their children, Lewis E and Aline.

Lewis died of Septicemia following surgery for appendicitis.
