Biography
Research Note:
An entry in the burial register for Seaford shows John Andrews, son of Samuel and Eleanor, buried 2 August 1806 [1]. It is quite likely therefore that the John who married Sarah Foster in 1799, was not the son of Samuel and Eleanor.
The 1841 and 1851 census shown below, and his death date in 1851, indicate that John was born in 1770. The 1851 census shows a birth place of Hailsham, no baptism is shown in the registers there, but a John Andrews, son of Thomas and Elizabeth, was baptised in Hellingly on 26 August 1770. Hellingly and Hailsham are adjacent parishes, so this baptism could well be for this John. Added 14 October 2018 by Carol Keeling.
