John was born January 17, 1714/5 at Boston to John Angier and Elizabeth Worthylake. [1]
John Anger set sail from Boston on board the brigantine New Industry on Februray 4, 1741/2. The New Industry was to voyage from Boston to North Carolina, then to Jamaica before returning to Boston. On May 22, 1742, the New Industry engaged in a battle with a Spanish privateer, and John Anger was wounded. They landed at 'Baraco', Cuba, where John Anger Jr. died June 30, 1742. His father, John Anger Sr, a fisherman of Boston, was made administrator of his estate on July 4, 1743.[2]
A short genealogy of the Angiers of Boston in Historic Homes and Places and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Middlesex County, Massachusetts was published by Cutter in 1908. [3] Cutter mistakenly claims that John Anger Sr. died in 1743, and that John Anger Jr. disappeared from all records. The estate file for John Anger in 1743 clearly shows that John would've been a young man, and that his father was well enough to administer his estate.
Cutter suggests that John may have had a son Robert, though considering he died in 1743, this Robert may have been his nephew Robert instead, who Cutter mentions but does not elaborate on.
