Biography

Edith (Apter) Stott was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.

Edith Emily Apter (1912-1961) was born on the 13th October 1912 ^{[1] [2]} in Wavertree, Liverpool. ^[3] She was the daughter of Edward Salisbury Apter and Emily Louisa Clarke ^[3] and she was christened on the 30th October 1912 at St Thomas' church in Wavertree. ^[1] when the family lived on Picton Grove. ^[1]

They still lived on Picton Grove in the 1921 census ^[4] and when she came of age, Edith was included in the electoral registers there. ^[5]

She married John Frederick Best in Liverpool in 1937 ^[6] and the couple set up home on Bishopsgate Street in Wavertree in the early years ^[7] and were recorded there in the 1939 register at the start of WW2. ^[2]

By the end of the war they had moved into 2 Ashfield at Wavertree ^[8] and spent 10 years there ^[9] before moving to nearby Alderson Road. ^[10] It was there her husband died in 1958 and Edith moved back to Ashfield briefly ^[11] before marrying Henry Stott in early 1961 in Liverpool. ^{[2] [12]}

They lived at Byford Street in Edge Hill but she died barely 6 months later f cancer ^[13] and was cremated in Liverpool on the 7th September 1961. ^[14]
