Ted was in Palestine when his sister Thelma married Duncan McDiarmid. He'd given her a mother-of-pearl rising sun badge of the A.I.F., which she wore at her throat on her wedding day. ^[3]

His family were very proud of his attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and all were pleased to welcome him home. ^[4]

Marriage. In 1945, in Victoria, he married Margaret Brooks. ^[5]

Death. Donald Gavon (Ted) Armstrong died 2nd January 2009 at the Albury Wodonga Hospital, Albury, New South Wales, Australia. He was the "dearly loved husband of Peg for 63 years. Loved and respected father and father-in-law of Gavon and Helen, Vicki and Gavin, Josie and Colin." ^[6]

Interment. Mr Donald Gavon "Ted" Armstrong, late of Violet Town and formerly of Boho South was interred Tuesday, 6th January 2009, at the Violet Town Lawn Cemetery. ^[7][8][9]

Birth place guessed. Parents married in 1918 in Victoria, Australia.^[10]

9 Jul 2022 - name was not Gavin. Was known as Ted. Gavon was his middle name. He died in 2009, not 2006. Please delete these research notes once official birth record has been added
