Trevor was born in 1905 at Edmonton, London. His parents were Arthur Herbert Atchley, and Winifred Raeburn McAlister. [1]
The family emigrated to New Zealand, perhaps aboard the Ruapehu in December 1923. [2]
He married Mary Waine Washbourn at St Barnabus' Church in Auckland, New Zealand on March 29 1937
They had two daughters.
Whilst living in Opoia Road Hamilton, Trevor enlisteded in the Nz Army Artillery, and was posted overseas during the Second World War, where he served in the Western Desert. Prior to embarkation he held the rank of Second Lieutenant.
Trevor was a Prisoner of War and spent some time in Oflag79 in Germany
Later he also served in the Korean War, where he held the Rank of Major.
Had Trevor been asked to audition for the TV Show "It aint half hot Mum" he would have given Windsor Davies a run for the Role.
Some time prior to 1958 the Atchley's purchased a Farmlet at Eureka , east of Hamilton where they resided until their death.
He passed away in 1990, and is buried with his wife in Hamilton Park Cemetery, Hamilton, New Zealand.
