Biography
Celestia was born in 1840, the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Baughman) Aten.
She married Henry Olmstead on 29 October 1859 in Stark, Illinois.[1] They had a daughter, Florence and a son Henry.
Celestia died 1863-1864 [see below] and is buried in the West Jersey Cemetery, Stark Co., IL.[2]
Conflicting Information
On the son Henry' 1895 marriage license he gave his age as 30 and his mother as Celestus Altus. As his mother died shortly after he was born, he probably did not know how to spell her names as he grew up with his step-mother Emeline.
Information on Find-a-Grave
Please note: According to her daughter, Florence's obit, it states that Celestia died when her daughter was three years old. Also, Celestia's husband, Henry Olmstead, went off to fight in the Civil War in 1864. Their daughter, Florence, was born in December 1860 and after Celestia died, Florence went to live with her uncle. If the obituary is correct, this would put Celestia's death date as sometime between December 6, 1863 and December 6, 1864.
