Biography

George Atkinson was born on May 19, 1822 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. He parents were Amos Atkinson and Anna Sawyer Atkinson.^[1]

He appears in the 1850 US Census, age 28, living in Brookline, Norfolk, Massachusetts with his parents and three siblings: Elizabeth (age 26); Edward (23); and Annie (13).^[2]

By the 1865 state census he is living in Brookline with his wife, Elizabeth Staigg Atkinson and five children: Richard (10); Elizabeth (8); Marion (7); James (40; and Henry (2).^[3]

According to a gravestone in the Walnut Street Cemetery in Brookline, Norfolk, Massachusetts George Atkinson was born May 19, 1822 and died June 5, 1915. both in Boston, Massachusetts.^[4]
