From FindAGrave.com, Memorial# 112997434: Dr. Atwood practiced medicine in Fairhaven for 38 years. His home/office was at the northeast corner of Center and William Streets. He was elected the first president of the Fairhaven Library Association when it was formed in 1860 and served until his death. He was president of the Bristol South District Medical Society in 1863. From 1864 to 1879 he was president of Riverside Cemetery.
On June 21, 1855 in Fairhaven, Bristol County, Massachusetts, he married (second wife) Henrietta E. Swift. He is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Atwood.
