Biography
Doris was born on 5 May 1907 to John Edward Charles and Edith Blanche August.
On 29 May 1907 she was baptised at All Saints with St Margaret, Upper Norwood, Surrey. Her father was a cab driver, living at 94 Windmill Rd, Croydon.
In the 1911 census in Croydon, [1] Doris is 3. Parents are John Edward Charles August 42, (job master) and Edith Blanche August 37. [A job master is the keeper of a livery stable who rents out horses and carriages.]
Children are Eric Charles August 9, Athol Lawrence August 8, Edgar Harding August 5, Doris Elizabeth Mary August 3.
On 30 June 1928 Doris Elizabeth Mary August (21) and Cyril J Soper (23, plasterer) were married at Ash Vale, St Mary, Surrey. [2]
In the 1931 Electoral register Doris and Cyril are at Coley Hill, Reading, Berkshire.
In the 1939 census in Oxford Rd, Reading, Berkshire, Cyril Soper (10 Sep 1904, furniture dealer) and Doris Mary (5 May 1907) have a daughter Margaret Mary Soper (7 October 1931).
In December 1996 she passed away in Winchester. [3]
