Leota G. (Ayres) Wittman's obituary - JERSEYVILLE — Leota G. Wittman, 91, died at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the home of her daughter. Born November 21, 1925, in Jerseyville, she was daughter of Clarence and Grace (Wrigley) Ayres, both deceased. She retired from Jerseyville Elks Lodge as a cook and server. She bowled with the Chili Peppers since 1958, and was a member of Jerseyville Moose Lodge and Jerseyville Eagles Lodge. Survivors include her children, Gary Wittman of Jerseyville, Sig (Lu) Wittman of Grafton, Jeff Wittman of Springfield, Linda (Denny) Perkinson of Delhi, Donna (Marvin) Tuetken of Jerseyville and Kim (David) Willis of Jerseyville; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Davenport of Jerseyville and Barbara (Lavonne) Krummblebein of Godfey; niece Sharon Devening. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Shirley Smith; great-granddaughter, Mary Helena Gray, daughter-in-law, Deb Wittman, brothers, Floyd, Alvin and Ralph Ayres; sisters, Dixie Lane, Ruth DeSherlia, Kathleen Lane. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. David Evans is officiant. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Foundation. Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
