Martha was the daughter of John and Martha (Storrs) Badcock. Her birth record as transcribed by Susan Dimock reads "Marthew Badcock" and her mother was similarly transcribed. Later they seemed to be seen both as Martha. [1] [2]
She married Samuel Robertson, son of Daniel and Lydia (Lee) Robertson, on 20 Mar 1746 at Coventry, Tolland, Connecticut They were parents of:
Martha's April 29, 1749 death is noted in Coventry Records as Martha, wife of Samuel Robeson. After her death Samuel married Mary Hinsdale also in 1749. William Weaver in "History of Ancient Windham" incorrectly notes Martha's husband as Daniel, not Samuel. Samuel's father was Daniel.
Note: Martha's last name at Birth was "Badcock" according to Coventry Records for herself, her parents, and her siblings. William Weaver referred to all the Badcocks of Windham as Babcocks, though he correctly speculated this family had migrated from Milton, Massachusetts, not Westerly Rhode Island. Today it is not uncommon to see this Badcock branch retroactively referred to as Babcock given that after the Revolutionary War most of them chose to Americanize their names to Babcock, but research on roadblocks can be much expedited when they are named in the manner that matches the primary records and coded accurately in the wikitree naming-numbering system.
