Faith Bacon (July 19, 1910 – September 26, 1956) was an American burlesque dancer and actress. During the height of her career, she was billed as "America's Most Beautiful Dancer".
Her mother was only 16 when she was born and they divorced when she was about 4 years old.
Faith claimed to be a descendant of Sir Francis Bacon, Peregrine White and James Fennimore Cooper.
She married Sandford Hunt Dickinson, but they did not stay together.
She claims to have invented the Fan Dance and even sued Sally Rand, seeking an injunction to bar her from doing the fan dance. These ladies were often arrested for their nude performances.
She sustained severe leg injuries in 1936 during a performance at the Chicago State-Lake Theatre when she crashed through the glass box she was performing in. Covered in blood, she collapsed and spent a month in the hospital. This accident left her with deep, ugly scars on her legs.
Tragically, by the 1950s, she was unable to find work and committed suicide.
