Hello Peter / Gill. Indeed, there seems to be no actual 'historic' or 'recorded' source quoted for the birth of Margery Bagott in Staffordshire, let alone Sedgley. Sir Richard Bagott of Blithfield, Staffordshire does have a daughter named Margaret in 1552 who marries William Trew , she dies at age 24, two years before Margery is even married herself. Although Margery (sp.) and Margaret appear generally interchangeable, keep in mind they are distinct forenames in their own right. For 'my' Margery, the only definite is her marriage to Mr Cox, for which there is the source.
Margaret Trew was still writing to her brother Walter Bagot in 1614, so there don't seem to be many correct facts out there on the internet. https://luna.folger.edu/luna/servlet/s/2w190s There are a lot of letters here relating to the Bagots of Blithfield, with letters from Anthony, Margaret, Lettice, Walter and their father Richard and mother Mary etc.
I haven't come across any sign of a Margery Bagot or Cox in them yet. It seems unlikely that she's related as they do mention their family a lot. The only source attached to the tree that you've linked to is for the burial in 1576 of Margaret wife of Richard Bagot in Gloucestershire, so not really related to this family.
Thanks for this Gill. My reason behind the note was a concern that someone's flight of fancy to be attached to 'gentry' was setting a precedent that is becoming a fixed 'fact' throughout Ancestry, but also more worryingly within Wikitree. Currently, the only source for Margery Bagot is her marriage in Sedgley (at the same church I and my wife got married in!) so that is as far back is we can go.
You obviously have a lot more information on the Bagots, so I happily defer to you.
Unfortunately, many trees are based on fiction. It would be great if people could be interested in deeper researching rather than just finding a name that matches, but that is how it is. In this period, the only way to research and to get back further is to explore Wills and other documents, it's just amazing that this archive of letters exists! If only I could be so lucky - one of my ancestors is stuck at 1800.

Is there any evidence to support Richard & Mary being her parents?
