He died 27 Jan 1894 in Broadwater, New South Wales, Australia[2]. His obituary was published in the local newspaper and read[3]:

Death of Mr- C T. Bagot. We regret very much having to chronicle the death of Mr. Christopher Thomas Bagot, who died at his late residence, Broadwater, on Saturday lust, 27th January, shortly after noon. The news came as a shock to his friends, who only a few days previously had seen him well and hearty, and looking , much better than he had done for some years past. the exact cause of death we have been nimble to learn, but it resulted from eating grapes, and drinking water freely afterwards. It is well-known that deceased had been a sufferer from a deadly malady for years past, and only for strict adherence to the diet prescribed for him, would never have lived so long. He reached the age of 68. Mr. Bagot was a son of the late Rev. Thomas Bagot, rector of Fortstown, Ireland, and came to this colony upwards of 52 years ago. Most of his life was spent -in squatting pursuits, and at one time he owned lien Lomond Station, in the New England district, on which place he spent a vast amount of capital in irrigation and other experimental works. After leaving Ben Lomond he resided at Armidale for some time, and about 12 years ago came to this district and purchased the property known as ' Beechwood,' at Broad water, where he erected a sawmill, which is now worked by his sons. Of late years he had retired into private life1 and little was seen of him. He was a very liberal contributor to the Press of the colony, and his active brain was ever at work endeavouring to promote schemes far advancement, particularly in the agricultural and dairying industries. Even those who did not always agree with his writings admired his ambition and sincerity. And speaking for ourselves, that trait of honesty which characterised his extensive dealings with us more than condoned any offence which his blunt manner may at any time have given. Up to the time of his death he was engaged writing a series of articles styled 'Around the District,' two of which we have yet to publish. He was announced as a candidate for next Parliamentary election for The Richmond. The deceased became ill on Wednesday previous to his death, and becoming worse on Saturday morning Dr. Forbes was called in. The doctor was hopeful the patient's great vitality would pull him through, but he expired us above stated. His remains were interred, in accordance with his expressed desire, under a tree near the homestead, a number of his more intimate acquaintances attending to pay their last respects to a worthy friend. A widow and grown family of six survive the deceased. Couquiescat in pace.
