Note: 2014: John R. "Scoop" Baker, 93, of Skaneateles, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Born in Ithaca to the late Wester "Cannonball" Baker and mother Isabel Clark. Moved to Skaneateles from Olean, NY in the 1940s. He was a self-employed custom carpenter, building and renovating several residences/buildings about the community. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, the American Legion and was a former member of Skaneateles Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Alice Evans. Surviving are his children, Jean Clark, Sue Jones, Kathy Ploufe and Mary Estes; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church, Skaneateles. Family will receive family and friends following the interment at Lakeview Cemetery at church. [1]
