Mary Ball was born in about 1869 in St Helens, Lancashire. She was the daughter of John Ball and Mary (Lancaster) Ball.
Mary married Hugh Lawrenson on 25 Dec 1889 at St Peter's Church in Parr. Neither had been married before. Hugh was 20 and a horseman living at 5 Baxter Street, Parr; Mary was 21 and lived at 114 Park Road. Their fathers were named as John Lawrenson (miner) and John Ball (engine driver). The witnesses were Thomas Burrows and Mary Elizabeth Burrows.
Hugh died in 1892, aged 25; his death was registered in the second quarter of 1892, in Prescot district.[1]
Mary married Joseph Rigby in 1892 at St Ann's Church in Rainhill (Anglican).
