Biography

Thomas was a Friend (Quaker)

Thomas was the son of Abraham and Ann (Adamson) Ball. He was brother to Abraham and Nathan Ball. Thomas was born in Richland Meeting and took a certificate to Westland Monthly Meeting when he removed to Greene County, Pa. in 1797. He married Hannah Miller at Westland Monthly Meeting in 1798. Many of their children were said to have been born in Washington County, Pa. (just north of Greene). It is claimed this couple removed first to Fayette PA., and from there to Hanover Twp, Columbiana County, Ohio where Hannah died in 1821. They are known to have been the parents of: Alvia, Guy, Nancy, Levi, Mary, Rebecca, Nathan, Thomas, Hannah, Abraham, and Catherine. An additional son, James, was born to Thomas and his second wife. Note: Death record for Mary (Hawley) Ingram, daughter of their child, Hannah (Ball) Hawley, claims Hannah Ball was born in New Garden, Ohio which is an unincorporated community in Hanover Twp, Columbiana Co, Oh. It is not known if Thomas and Hannah belonged to New Garden Monthly Meeting but it is likely.[1]
