Thomas Alexander Ballantyne was born on 29 May 1880 in New Zealand, son of John Ballantyne (1842–1930) and Jane McKay (1854–1935).[1]
His siblings were:

Thomas married Matilda Adelaide Cooper on 6 April 1915 in New Zealand.[2]
Thomas died on 20 August 1940 in New Zealand, aged 60.[3] Thomas was mentioned on a memorial in Ōamaru Old Cemetery, Ōamaru, Waitaki District, Otago, New Zealand with a death date of 20 August 1940.[4]
