HEZEKIAH BALLARD, b. at Andover, 18 Jul 1762 son of Hezekiah Ballard and Lydia Chandler;[1] d. at Andover, 4 Oct 1847;[2][3] m. at Andover, 10 Dec 1783,[4] his first cousin once removed, MARY “MOLLY” CHANDLER , b. at Andover, 4 Apr 1764 daughter of Zebadiah Chandler and Deborah Blanchard;[5] Molly d. at Andover, 30 Mar 1834.[6]

Hezekiah was the youngest of ten children of Deacon Hezekiah Ballard and Lydia Chandler. He married Molly Chandler the youngest of seven children of Zebadiah Chandler and Deborah Blanchard.

Hezekiah was a farmer as was his father. On 31 March 1784, Hezekiah Ballard, Jr. husbandman purchased 40 acres in Andover on Foster’s pond brook, so called, from his father Hezekiah Ballard yeoman for payment of £66.[7] In his will, Hezekiah’s father bequeathed to Hezekiah one-half of the dwelling house and bequeathed all his land on the easterly side of the Boston road to his grandson Joshua son of Hezekiah.[8]

The household of Hezekiah Ballard, Jr. of Andover was five persons in 1790: one male 16 and over, two males under 16, and two females.[9]

On 10 April 1804, Hezekiah Ballard, in consideration of $500, conveyed to his son Joshua Ballard a minor the 40-acre tract on Foster’s pond brook which he purchased from his father as well as the westerly half of the dwelling house and barn.[10]
