Walter was born about 30 May 1888. He is the son of Joseph Bardy and Mary Stowman. [1][2] He married Clara Anne Haithwaite in 1912[3] They had 5 children. In 1939 he was living at 2 Richmond Street in York (situated in the district of Layerthorpe) with his wife. She was listed as "Unpaid domestic duties", the term used for a housewife at the time. Also at the residence at the time were his daughters Magaret Freeman and Elsie Magson. Walter was listed as a Guard fro GNER. His daughter Margaret was lsited as working for a button manufacturer, whilst Elsie was a packer for a chocolate manfacturer.[4] He died in Howden in 1967[5]
