Robert was the son of Cornelius Barker and Mary Bailey. He was born in 1842 in Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire.
In the 1851 census Robert (age 8), Scholar, was the son of Cornelious Barker in Camps Green, Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire, England.[1]
In 1861, he was 18 years old and working as an Agricultural Labourer. [2]
