William was born in 1890. He was the son of Charles Barlow and Jessie Davidson. According to his military record he married Beatrice Louisa Vincent in Christchurch on 30 December, 1912. He list Edgar William as being born in Christchurch on 19 January, 1905. Probably should have been 1915. He lists his date of birth as 4 August 1890. He was Church of England.
Private William Barlow was the husband of Beatrice Barlow, of 148 Salisbury Street, Christchurch. He had previously been in the Australian Squadron and had resigned.
He was born at Dunedin and was employed as a labourer at the NZ Glue Works in Christchurch prior to enlistment.
His attestation was dated 4 August 1918 and is before the medical board, and deemed fit, 17 September 1918. He looked to be undergoing training at Trentham. His medical form has ' ?.?. Police' under the unit. He died three days after the official end of WW1.
He died from influenza just as WW1 ended. He passed away on 14 November, 1918 in Featherston. He is buried in Featherston Cemetery, Western Lake Road, Featherston, Wairarapa, New Zealand, Grave 640
