Jehial was born before 1800. He operated a shop in Rochester, New York, which secondarily served as a place of worship on Sundays. In 1817, he joined the village's first fire company.
In March 1817, Jehial and his wife Delia mortgaged three properties in Rochester to Jedediah Safford for $1,250. But by 1819, the couple had defaulted on their payments, resulting in the sale of those properties at public auction. [1]
