Slingsby was born in 1806. The biography of his nephew John Thomas Barnes in Williams's History of Frederick County, Maryland names his parents as Zadock Barnes and Elizabeth Polson (Poulson).[1]
Slingsby was living in Ohio in 1850.[2] By the 1880 census, he was in Wabash County, Indiana. [3]
