"Capt. Danny E. Barnhard, 47, of Dresden, went to be with the Lord at 4:15AM Sunday August 28, 2005 at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. Born October 29, 1957 in Columbus, he was a 1976 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, COTC with a degree in Criminal Justice and the Ohio Peace Officers Academy; and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. On July 19, 1982 he began his career as a corrections officer at the Licking County Sheriff's Department and became a Deputy Sheriff in 1984. He became a Sergeant at the department in 1987 and was promoted to Lieutenant, Jail Division in 1989. In 1996 he was promoted to Captain - Jail Division, in 1999, Detective Division, and on January 12, 2002, Captain, Administrative Services/Training Division. He was an active member of the Dresden United Methodist Church and a former member of the Dresden Kiwanis and the Marine Corps League."^[1]
