Ronald was born in 1929. He was the son of Charles W Baynham and Lily Burton. Ronald's birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1929 in the Birmingham North district. They were the child of Burton.[1]
He played for Luton in the 1959 FA Cup Final, in May 1959 which they lost 2–1 to Nottingham Forest. He was capped 3 times for the England national team in 1955.
Ronald travelled with the England team in 1959 to Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.[2] This record confirms the names of his parents. Although his only appearances for England were in 1955, he was an unused member of the squad that played Brazil in an end-of-season friendly in 1959.[3]
He passed away in 2024. At the time of his death he was the oldest surviving England international footballer, aged 94.
