William Beadon was born in Cornwall, England.

William was born in or before March 1805 to Levi Beaden and Sarah Kneebone. He was baptized 3 Mar 1805 in Paul parish, Cornwall, England. [1]

Marriage & Children

He married first Caroline Kneebone on 11 Jun 1827 at Paul parish, Cornwall before witnesses John Kneebone and John Wright.[2] Their children were:

  1. Catherine Beaden, 1828 Paul
  2. Jane (Beaden) Kelynack, 1832 Paul
  3. Sarah Beaden, 1834 Paul
  4. Caroline Ann Beadon, 1837 Paul [3]
  5. Lurinda (Beaden) Pearce, 1839 Paul [4][5]

Caroline died in 1851 and was buried in the cemetery of St Pol de Leon on 12 May 1897 at Paul parish, where William would join her over 30 years later.[9][10]

He married second Grace Payne (James) Kelynack, widow of Nicholas Kelynack, on 26 Dec 1856 before witnesses Elizabeth Hall and James Richards.[11][12] They had no children. Grace died on 2 Dec 1878[13] and on 6 Dec 1878 was buried in Sheffield Road Cemetery in Paul rather than in St Pol de Leon churchyard with William.[14]

Death & Burial

William was the oldest man in Newlyn when he died at 92 years old on 7 May 1897 at his home on Clifton Terrace.[21] [22] [23] He was buried in the cemetery of St Pol de Leon on 12 May 1897 at Paul parish with Caroline.[24][25]
