George Sydney Beaton was born in 1882 in Euroa, Victoria, Australia. He was the son of Mary (Gouge) Beaton and Hugh Middlemiss Beaton. ^[1]

He married Clara Ellen Hartwig in 1907 in Victoria.^[2]
