Biography

Doreen Agnes Beattie was born in 1911 to William and Agnes Beattie.[1] She was always known as Amy. When Amy was young her family moved to a farm on Brungle Road.

Amy attended school at the Mondongo School. To get to school Amy needed to walk and it was an 8 km trek each way.

In 1935 Amy married Tim Twomey and they lived on the farm at Bombowlee, NSW.[2] Tragedy struck when Amy and Tim, lost their eldest born son William Bede Twomey (known as Billy) to Meningitis, aged 6.[3]

Amy was well known for her hospitality and cooking and was keen to keep the gardens around the house blooming and healthy. She also played an active part in running the family farm.[4]

She passed away in 1998.
