Biography

Mary was born about 1820 in Bethlehem, Albany, New York. She was the daughter of William Bender and Candace Russell. Mary was the sixth child and fourth daughter born to William and Candace.

Mary never married. It appears that Mary may have been disabled in some capacity as her father states in his will, "I will and direct that my executors shall see that my daughter Mary have her support from that portion of my real estate devised to Cyrus Bender, and that she be well treated and cared for." Mary was 32 years old when her father died in 1852. ^[1]

In 1850, Mary is living with her older brother, John, and his family in Bethlehem. ^[2] In 1860, Mary is living with her sister, Ann, and her husband, Isaac Coffin, in Catskill, Greene, New York. ^[3] By 1865, Mary is back in Bethlehem and living with her sister, Sarah, Sarah's husband, John French, and her sister, Margaret. ^[4] Mary continues to lives with her sister, Sarah, until her death. ^[5][6]

Mary passed away after sometime between September 13, 1889, when she is mentioned in her sister Margaret's probate ^[7] She is not mentioned, however in her sister, Sarah's will dated November 15, 1894. ^[8]
