Clara Mariana was born in 1820 in Stockholm, the daughter of Wilhelm Benedicks and Josephina Seligmann. She passed away in 1837 in Klara parish of järnfeber, aged 17.[1]
According to the birth record from the Stockholm Jewish parish, she was born Mariana Benedicks on 20 May 1820.[2] She was baptised on 13 October 1834 in Klara parish along with her two sisters. In the baptism record she was given as "af Judiska Nation" ("of Jewish nationality") and her name in it was Clara Marianne Maria Bendicks.[3] In the records of the Church of Sweden, her birth date is given as 15 May 1820, while in the Jewish records it's the 20 May 1820.
According to the Jewish parish in Stockholm's examination record 1855-1894, she and her two sisters had converted to Lutheranism: antagit Lutherska Trosläran.[4]
