Edward Francis was born on 21 April 1901 in Sayville, Suffolk, New York. He was the son of David Frank Benjamin and Anna A. Sweezey.^[1]

This information is from files of William Nelson Sweezey in Florida. Edward does not show in the 1900 census, so must have been born after 1900. Edward was living in Albany, NY in 1936 when he applied for his SS Card.

It appears that Edward is buried in the family plot in Union Cemetery in Sayville. Next to him is a Nell Benjamin who I assume is his wife.

What is strange, is that the Edward F. Benjamin buried in Union Cemetery shows a death date of 1898, and there are no dates for Nell Benjamin. Maybe this was a brother of Edward who died very young, and the family "reused" the name Edward.

I noticed that the Benjamin family did that with David Benjamin, Edwards' father. David Benjamin actually had a brother named David C. who died in his first year of life, and they later named another son David.

But this would mean that Edward F. Benjamin is not buried in Union Cemetery, but his wife is???? It is possible that it is just a mistake and the Edward F. Benjamin is buried in the family plot.

I just found Edwards headstone at the cemetery. I guess the records at the administration office are wrong, because the headstone shows exactly the same information I received from William Sweezey of Florida.
